FAQs

What are the career opportunities for graduates with a master’s degree?

Graduates with a master’s degree in psychology are entitled to enrol in section A of the Italian Association of Psychologists (after passing the appropriate state examination) so they can work in those fields of the psychology referred to in the official rules and regulations (Law 96/1989). Working as a psychologist involves the use of cognitive/operating tools for the purposes of prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation and supporting people, groups, social bodies and communities. It also involves experimentation, research and training in these fields. More specifically, majoring in clinical psychology entitles graduates to specialise in the fields of health care, psychological diagnosis and personal assistance. The master’s degree in psychology also qualifies graduates to enrol at specialist schools in psychotherapy and to study for a Ph.D., in accordance with specific admissions procedures.

What are the career opportunities for a graduate with a bachelor’s degree?

Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in psychology are entitled to enrol in section B of the Italian Association of Psychologists (after passing the appropriate state examination). Anybody enrolled in section B qualifies to work as a psychologist, according to law (Decree by the President of the Republic 328/2001 and Law 170/2003) under the supervision of a psychologist enrolled in section A of the Association of Psychologists, in the field of psychological techniques for social, organisational and work environments and in the realm of psychological techniques for personal/community services. The bachelor’s degree in psychology also qualifies students to enroll on the master’s degree in psychology at SFU or other university institutes in accordance with their admissions rules and regulations.
