Objectives
At the end of the course, students will obtain:
- Acquisition of theoretical knowledge regarding the diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of the main psychiatric disorders.
- Acquisition of practical knowledge regarding the possible integration between psychopharmacological intervention (under the psychiatrist’s responsibility) and psychotherapeutic and/or rehabilitative intervention.
- Acquisition of knowledge on some regulatory aspects that concern psychiatry (e.g. informed consent, how to do a TSO Mandatory Health Treatment, communities for patients with drug addiction for psychiatric patients and for mixed diagnosis, the characteristics of REMS that constitute the evolution of the previous Judicial Psychiatric Hospitals.
- Acquisition of knowledge of the characteristics of the different forms of epilepsy, headaches and other neurological disorders.

- Brief history of Italian psychiatry, The world of psychiatry, the environments, the laws.
- DRUGS AND PSYCHOTHERAPY INTEGRATION POINTS.
- Principles of pharmacodynamics.
- Anxiolytics Antipsychotics.
- Antidepressants Mood stabilizers, antiparkinsonian products for weight loss.
- Elements of neurology epilepsy, headaches, sleep disorders.
- Drugs and addiction therapy.
- Suicide; Pathological mourning.
- Psychiatric rehabilitation.
Exam
The assessment will consist of a multiple-choice written exam.
