Breakdown of the tuition fee and how it is worked out

Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität Wien’s Board of Directors sets the annual tuition fee for all degree courses at the beginning of the academic year. The annual fee is a combination of a basic rate and income-related payment. (1)

The annual tuition fee for the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology consists of a basic rate and an additional payment that varies from student to student.

The basic annual rate for the Bachelor’s degree beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year and finishing in the 2027-2028 academic year is € 6.500.

The income-related payment ranges from no additional payment to a maximum of € 7.400 and is worked out as follows:

  • Income of up to € 25.000: no additional payment
  • Income from € 25.001 to € 40.000: € 1.000
  • Income from € 40.001 to € 70.000: € 2.600
  • Income from € 70.001 to € 100.000: € 5.000
  • Income of over € 100.000: € 7.400

Consequently, the annual fee for the Bachelor’s degree varies from € 6.500 to € 13.900.

Students will be placed into a given category based on the ISEE (Indicator of Equivalent Financial Situation) they present when they enrol. Every year the ISEE certificate must be presented again. Students failing to present a certificate will be charged € 7.400.

What the fee includes

The annual tuition fee includes travel and subsistence expenses for the period of study in Vienna, on the dates set on the academic timetable.

Fee payment instalments

  • 1st instalment € 1.950 > at time of enrolment
  • 2nd instalment € 1.137,50 + 25% of income-related payment > by 30th November 2025
  • 3rd instalment € 1.137,50 + 25% of income-related payment > by 31st January 2026
  • 4th instalment € 1.137,50 + 25% of income-related payment > by 31st March 2026
  • 5th instalment € 1.137,50 + 25% of income-related payment > by 31st May 2026

Two payment receipts will be issued, one for the first enrollment installment and one including the remaining 4 installments. Both receipts are increased by 2 euros per revenue stamp.

In case of separated, divorced or non-cohabiting parents, it is necessary to provide the ISEE of both parents.
Other documents or ways of certifying income will be submitted to the unquestionable evaluation of the Management.

Student insurance

ÖH Student insurance: compulsory annual insurance, for the a.y. 2024-2025 the cost is 49,40 euros (recalculated every year).

The amount will be charged in addition to the tuition fee.

Grants in Psychology for the Bachelor’s degree in SFU Milan

The call for scholarships for the academic year 2025-2026 will be released by May 2025.

Call for the academic year 2024-2025.

For the most deserving students planning to enrol on the first year of the bachelor’s Course in Psychology for the 2024-2025 academic year, Sigmund Freud University will be offering:

  • 3 grants covering the entire basic annual tuition fee
  • 3 grants covering the 50% of the basic annual tuition fee

Grants are awarded to the top six students in a ranking based on school-leaving certificate grades. The grant will be confirmed for the following two years of the course to students in good standing with exams who have obtained an average grades equal to or lower than 1.5 in accordance to the Austrian grading system in force. (2)

Requisites for applying for a grant

Students must meet the following requisites to apply for a grant:

  • a five-year secondary school leaving certificate (or equivalent, subject to verification with the University Management)
  • have successfully passed the admissions interview for the first year of the bachelor’s degree in Psychology for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • ISEE certificate

Will not be able to apply:

  • students in possession of a qualification equal to or higher than the degree Course for which the grant is being requested
  • students who enroll after having withdrawn from studies at the Sigmund Freud University of Milan or at another University prior to the a.y. 2024-2025
  • students who transfer from University in the a.y. 2024-2025, with repeat enrollment in a course year already attended

Rankings

Students will be included in the rankings provided they apply by 1st September 2024.

The rankings are worked out based on high school leaving certificate grades (given in hundredths). If students have the same grades, preference will be given to the student in the lower ISEE category.

Awarding the grants

The rankings will be published on the website on 5th September 2024 and the grants will be awarded as follows:

  • The top three students in the rankings will not have to pay any of the basic annual tuition fee.
  • Students ranked from fourth-sixth will only have to pay 50% of the basic annual tuition fee.

Students who have been awarded one of the grants but have not yet enrolled must do so by no later than 8th September 2024.

The rankings will be published again on 12th September 2024, excluding those students who have failed to complete their enrolment. The new rankings will indicate which students have definitively been awarded a grant.

Renewal of grants for the following years

Grants awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year will be confirmed for the following two years, provided the students in question are up-to-date with the examinations on their winter timetable for the current academic year and have an average grade of 1.5 or lower.
