Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Define a behavior.
- Understand methods of behavior observation.
- Understand methods of behavior measurement.
- Learn and practice observation and measurement skills for clinical practice and research.
Syllabus
- How to define behavior: topography and function.
- Definition and description of behavior.
- Measurable dimensions of behavior.
- Methods for measuring behavior: continuous and discontinuous measurement.
- Methods for discontinuous measurement: whole interval, partial interval, momentary time sampling.
- Methods for indirect measurement: permanent products.
- Measurement of behavior in clinical and research settings.
Exam
The assessment will consist of a written exam and a practical exam (observation and measurement of behavior through video analysis).
