Psychological Intervention with family

Integrated course (IC)

Obiettivi

At the end of the course, students will obtain:  

  • In-depth analysis of the main elements of systems theory with reference to the family.
  • In-depth analysis of the different phases of the family life cycle.
  • In-depth analysis of the importance of involving the family in the therapy of certain types of patients, requests and different formats of taking charge.
  • In-depth analysis of the intervention tools of family therapies.
  • In-depth analysis of interventions in separation and divorce, in particular, CTU and family mediation. 

Syllabus

The course, presented the main transformations and the different current forms of family, intends to deepen the systemic approach and some typical intervention of this approach. The theory of the family life cycle and the different phases will be explored: from the constitution of the marital couple, to the family with children, to that with adolescents, to that with young adults and with the elderly, specifying for each the individual, marital and intergenerational development tasks. 
We will explore in depth for which patients and which different contexts of the request (individual, couple, relational, for non-requesting adolescents, for children or adults), it is indicated to choose the family therapy or, in any case, the involvement of family members, and the possible different types of taking charge (parallel family/individual, individual with enlargement or couple). 
The topic of separation and its effects on the family system will be addressed, and mediation will be presented as a useful tool for managing family conflict in this phase of change.  
The differences in functions that concern parenthood and the evaluation of parental skills in the legal field after separations will be explored in depth.

  • Family mediation.
  • The evaluation of parental skills.

Lessons, case presentations and discussions, simulations and training. 
The teacher will receive the students at the end of the lesson after having agreed the appointment via email. 

Exam

The evaluation will consist of an oral test.
