Proseminar (PS)
Objectives
Students will be guided by the course to accomplish the following goals:
- Gain first-hand experience with qualitative research tools through practical exercises,
- Receive practical guidance on the construction of qualitative research instruments,
- Design and test in groups a qualitative research project based on the student’s interests.
Programme
The course provides an overview of the fundamental tools of qualitative research, guiding students through all phases of the process: from designing a research framework to defining and constructing data collection tools, culminating in the presentation of a project proposal.
During the lessons, students will be invited to develop bibliographies and research pathways on a topic of their choice. A central component will be the hands-on experimentation of qualitative data collection techniques through in-person workshops and exercises.
Students will acquire specific skills related to developing a project proposal, formulating research questions, identifying relevant data and sources, as well as defining and personally applying qualitative data collection techniques.
Exam
The final evaluation will consist of a presentation of a research project built in group and the production of a personal report in written form.
Bibliography
The slides provided by the teacher will be shared with students and used as course materials.
