Syllabus

The programme of the course focuses on the relationship between techniques and theories in the main psychotherapeutic currents. Starting from the assumption that professional action is characterised by the use of techniques aimed at dealing effectively with clinical problems, it is important to underline how the field and the choice of techniques themselves depend on theories regarding the nature of the problems and their origin, that is, the pathogenesis. This implies the need for the presence of a dual theoretical aspect: a theory of adaptive evolution, and one of maladaptive evolution.

The exposition of the main psychotherapeutic currents will also be marked in a historical-chronological sense, in order to show the evolution of theories and techniques, and in a comparative sense, in order to highlight analogies and differences.

The last aspect is of particular relevance because, over time, traditional paradigms have shown phenomena of convergence and even overlap, making the current situation particularly complex.

The lectures will be complemented by moments of practical work concerning clinical situations.

Exam

The evaluation will consist of an oral examination.
