Clinical diagnostics and assessment

Aims

  • Studying an updated and recent version of the case formulation models.
  • Understanding in practice the relationship between theory and practice.
  • Understanding in practice the theoretical differences between models, especially psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and cognitive constructivist.

Programme

The psychodiagnostic assessment is conceived in psychotherapeutic terms, i.e. a formulation shared with the patient of the case. Case formulation closely links theory and clinical practice.

The case formulation includes an explanatory model of the emotional suffering of the individual patient, based on a general theoretical model, which justifies the rationale of the interventions and the treatment strategy proposed to the patient, provides clinical variables that allow the monitoring of therapeutic progress and the its feedback action on the treatment strategy which allows, when necessary, to reformulate the case, renegotiate the objectives of the therapy, modify the treatment strategy according to a new formulation and a new rationale.

Exam

The exam is oral and includes: question of your choice on one of the two compulsory texts, question from the teacher on the other compulsory text and any third question at the request of the student on one of the optional texts.
