Silvia Tomaino

Psychologist, PhD in Brain, Mind and Computer Science, Psychotherapy trainee, Professor at the master's and bachelor's degree at SFU

Psychologist and Psychotherapy trainee in Personal Construct Psychology at CESIPc – Center for Studies in Constructivist Cognitive Psychotherapy, based in Padua.

She earned her international PhD in Brain, Mind and Computer Science at the University of Padua, with a thesis titled “Psychologists and clients in online interventions: new tools and resources to promote well-being“, during which she spent a research period abroad at the Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona.

She has gained experience working in various contexts, focusing on:

  • Action-research in the psychosocial and health fields,
  • Psychological interventions involving digital tools,
  • Psychotherapy with a special interest in group interventions, online therapy, and therapy in English,
  • Training activities in educational settings,
  • Mental health and well-being promotion among international university students and expats (Italians living abroad).

She currently teaches at Sigmund Freud University in Milan and works as a psychologist in Padua and online, providing individual and group therapy to young adults and adults.

 

Research interests

  • Application of qualitative research methodologies in community and health psychology,
  • Creative tools and/or methodologies used in research and/or psychosocial interventions (e.g., photovoice, artworks, picture books, silent books, autobiographical writing, etc.),
  • Acculturative stress and loneliness in expats (international students and Italians living abroad),
  • Group interventions to promote wellbeing and socialization in young adults and/or adolescents.
