Sofia Sacchetti carried out a PhD in clinical psychology on the topic of body mis-perception in eating disorders at John Moores Liverpool University (LJMU). During her PhD, she also collaborated in teaching as demonstrator for the courses of “Qualitative Research and Methods” and “Pleasure and Pain: sensation, emotion, and behaviors”.
She studied and worked in London at the Psychoanalytic Unit of University College London (UCL) and at the St Ann’s Hospital, where she conducted clinical work and research on mentalizing in eating disorders and other psychopathologies. She also studied and conducted research on psychopathology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
She attended the Institute for Research in Applied Psychoanalysis (IRPA), a specialization school in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In general, she has gained experience both in the clinical field and in psychotherapy and in research applied to clinical psychology and psychopathology.
She now works as a clinical psychologist as a freelancer in Milan, both in the private practise and in a psychiatric context, providing consultancy, psychological support and psychotherapy for adults and young adults. She is also a lecturer at the Sigmund Freud University and the University of Bicocca – Milan.
